Montreal’s best and coolest Asian food since 2010: SATAY BROTHERS

From a simple stall in the Atwater Market to their renowned restaurant in St.Henri, Satay Brothers isn’t just any Asian restaurant; It’s Montreal’s go-to spot for some of the city’s best southeast asian cuisine. Merging the rich culture of Singaporean street food with Montreal’s fun and sparkly charm, Satay Brothers deliver a memorable night out on the town!

How it all started:

Satay Brothers started as a food stall in the Atwater Market in 2010, run by brothers Mat & Alex Winnicki. The idea was inspired by their mother’s Singaporean heritage and the vibrant flavors of the Southeast menu featuring satays, laksa, and steamed buns, quickly gaining popularity for their delicious and authentic dishes.

Atwater market:

The Atwater market, located at 138 Atwater Avenue in Montreal, is a vibrant public market known for its diverse selection of gourmet and fresh local products. It has been a cornerstone of the community since it opened in 1933, housed in a distinctive Art Deco Building along the Canal Lachine. The market is open all year-round and offers both indoor and outdoor seasons, starting in spring and featuring a variety of flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables & meats.

The market hosts numerous butchers, cheesemongers, produce vendors, bakeries, flower shops & food stalls offering ready-to-eat options. They have it all! The Atwater Market also features various events and activities throughout the year, including culinary tastings and seasonal festivities. Transportation to the market is convenient, with nearby metro stations and bus routes, as well as ample parking and bike paths.

Satay’s success:

The success of their market stall led to the opening  of a round-restaurant in Saint Henri in 2013, where they offer a more extensive menu and a vibrant dining. The restaurant continues to be a favorite for its flavor, homemade dishes, live atmosphere and super cool staff!

They even have their own beer!

If you’re a fan of beer, the Satay Beer is a must-try! This unique brew is the result of a collaboration with Microbrasserie 4 Origines. It’s not just a drink, it’s an extension of the Satay Brother’s brand. The beer is a refreshing crisp Lager designed to balance the bold and spicy flavors of dishes like their famous pork belly steamed buns and spicy laksa. It just goes so well together.

My favorite Satay dishes that you must try
